The Best Place to Start...

The American Association of Riding Schools (AARS) offers the most comprehensive, enjoyable, and affordable riding lesson program in the nation.  Our member stables are privately owned, and specialize in novice youth and adult riders.

If you are an adult who has always liked horses, but never had the opportunity to work with them, AARS member stables cater to adults just like you.  You can soon be riding and enjoying horses on a regular basis.

If your child is crazy about horses, but you fear it's a hobby that just can't fit your family, an AARS stable can be your child's dream come true.   Our member programs offer a complete and well supervised riding and horse care program that is rewarded with nationally awarded AARS achievement ribbons and certificates.

Lessons consist of basic English and Western riding styles.  Riders learn safety when handling horses, grooming, saddling and bridling, and working with the horse from the ground during exercise and training sessions.  Students also learn about the many fun activities available to horse enthusiasts across the nation.  As our riders enjoy our programs, they learn what is necessary to choose, care for, and enjoy a horse of their own.

A Great Place to Stay...

Some of our riders eventually purchase a horse to keep at their home or at a large facility with room for boarders, and possibly an in-house trainer. But, our member stables also offer special programs for those people who want all the advantages of a horse of their own without the commitments of time, money, and physical labor that comes with horse ownership. You don’t need to own a horse of your own; you can fall in love with ours!

A Pony Place for Young Children...

The AARS® RuntRider™ pony program is perfect for children who are too young to appreciate the routine of lessons. This warm-fuzzy program is designed for children who are young enough to
not ask to hold the reins by themselves. There is no commitment to a regular lesson schedule; parents simply call ahead to book a session.

A Day with Horses...

AARS® member stables also offer the Day with Horses™ introduction to horseback riding. This three-hour-long program is ideal for scouts, community groups, family outings, and parties. Riders share their horse and instructor as they become comfortable handling the horse on the ground, grooming and saddling. Riders have the opportunity to ride bareback and to test out eastern and/or western saddles. Activity books are provided for added learning and enjoyment.
